That's my sad, forgotten, and lonely salvaged typewriter on the right. Don't glare at me for stacking stuff on top of it. |
It's called the HP Pavilion Dandelion Breeze, and it was only available at Wal-mart. I had been saving for this computer for quite some time now, and so when I found out that they were discontinuing it last month, my parents graciously helped me buy it on clearance. Like, super-clearance-cheaper-than-you-can-get-it-online. ;-D It was the first time I had ever extensively used a Windows 7, and to say the least I absolutely loved it. Not to mention the Spider Solitaire it came with was way better than the old one.
The other awesome part was that I could write whenever I wanted, without begging my mom to use her computer. (MICROSOFT WORD STARTER 2010 IS THE BEST!)
But then one night, it got a weird pixel-y line that ran across the top of my internet screen, like a pixel lightning bolt. This made me nervous, because some people had complained about that, but I figured it was because they just didn't take care of their computer. I did some research and I guess a lot of people who get HP (like, since 2008) have had this problem, and it had to do with some boring technical goop that involved sending it away to have parts replaced in the engine, and you had to do it like, every 6 months. At this point I started praying.... I just needed something to do school work on and get my novel done! If this thing was going to lose my work spontaneously for no reason, it wasn't going to be practical.
Then yesterday morning, I was working on a character outline for Deceptive, and had quite a bit of it done, when the entire screen turned white and got a bunch of those pixel-lightning bolts. And then completely crashed two seconds later. Followed by the blue screen of death.
It was such a hard crash, Microsoft Word wasn't even able to do a recovery on the document.
So we returned it.
And I was super bummed.
It's just a computer, right? But I'll never buy another HP computer again, unless they get rid of that crappy Compaq system that crashes on you after two weeks of gentle use.
I babied that thing, man.
Sigh. Well, thanks for reading all of that, if you did. You didn't have to, you are more than welcome to just drool at these awesome pictures my mom took.
You want to know the best part about this computer? It was made for Sky Sailing Desktop Wallpapers.
Hey, at least I got to keep the matching mouse! :-D So whenever I can afford a new laptop (hopefully a white one. I have a thing with black laptops, okay?), it will have something colorful to go with it, no?
For those that found this through Google searching the Dandelion Breeze because you might want to buy it, I would like to clarify that this was brand-new (not refurbished) and it was never dropped, left on over night, or run down with graphic-heavy computer games. Please save yourself the heartache of coming to REALLY LIKE it and then having to return it. Get something more reliable.
End rant.
Aw, sad story =(
ReplyDeleteI really badly miss my little laptop. Hoping to get another one soon. They're so convenient for writing.
P.S. Where did you get your typewriter? That's seriously awesome. I'm hoping that someday a lovely typewriter will randomly pop into my life ;)
Yes, I hope you get another one! Quite handy.
DeleteMy uncle gave me that typewriter. :-D He heard I loved to collect them. It had enough ink left to do about four pages, too!
Thanks for reading.
G'day!

DUUUUDE, WHAT A BUMMER! Yeah, I'd read you email about it but I didn't get a chance to reply yet. (shall do that).
ReplyDeleteBut seriously; how lame! You should check out "Acer" laptops- that's what I have and the thing is *resilient*! I hardly ever turn it off and I type hard enough to break a keyboard but it doesn't seem to mind. xD And it was very resonably priced. Here's a link: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&q=acer+laptop+5253-BZ602&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1366&bih=563&wrapid=tlif133657876283210&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=14006922938414687947&sa=X&ei=0pKqT_f4LOHx6QHHoImnBA&ved=0CMMBEPMCMAE#
...Yeah, wow. That's a long link. xDD You should also check out Tiger Direct, that's where I bought it.
Anywho, I'll stop babbling. That wallpaper sorta rocks. <3

DUUUUUUDE. what a bummer!
ReplyDeleteIt's sooooo pretty, too. :(
Well, you've got to get another one! if you didn't, that would be a TRAVESTY. Like: "Oooh, look, you get to Skype one of your bestest friends in the whole stinking universe!!!! .....once."
GAAAAAH, it would be horrible.
SO GET ANOTHER ONEEEE....
But dude, I'd be so darn disappointed in HP. :/ I have an Acer Aspire and the thing in seriously durable. I've dropped it, banged it, left it on overnight (a billion times, probably--even though I try to remember to shut it off before it hibernates by itself.) and I've got the fetal blue screen a couple of times. And we're still all good.
So I think they're pretty cool.
It is black, and rather blah, but I really want to order this skin thingie that has piano keys all over it and it even has a matching one to go inside below the keyboard...gaah. O_O
Wow.
I'll shut up now.
